Hytrol president cautiously optimistic about conveyor marketThe president of Hytrol Conveyor Co. said he remains cautiously optimistic about prospects for his industry, despite reports of double-digit order and shipment growth, and a solid recovery from the depths of the 2008–09 recession. Gregg Goodner told attendees at Hytrol's executive summit and sales meeting in Little Rock, Ark., that the company has experienced "steady growth" over the past two years despite still-challenging economic conditions. read more |

Avoid Cutthroat Competition That Bleeds Red InkAt Hytrol's Executive Summit and Sales Meeting held in Little Rock this week, the conveyor manufacturer's president, Gregg Goodner, proudly announced that it sold $11.6 million in product in May. He attributed this to his company's attention to lean practices and eliminating non-value added work. Manufacturers of equipment bring certain strengths to the table, and distributors add their unique talents to the equation to solidify the overall solution. With the complexity of today's systems, the word distributor might not encompass all of what an integration partner can do for the customer. Where Have All The Distributors Gone?Over the past three to five years, end-users have shifted their ideology when it comes to material handling distributors. End-users no longer expect their material handling providers to simply peddle a piece of equipment. They demand solutions, and they are becoming more wary of dealing with multiple suppliers to meet their needs. Instead of dealing with one company for a palletizer, another company for an AS/RS and then a third for conveyors, end-users today want the security of an integrated system provided by a single source.
