Since moving to Jonesboro in 1999, the Hytrol Stockyard has been able to expand its products and services tremendously. Lets look at a few facts and figures:

  • 24-Hour On-Time Percentage -100%

  • Through November 2001, the Stockyard has processed 11,193 orders; of these 45% were one week order material, a total of 4,990 orders. (The one week order percentage while in St. Louis never rose above 20%)

  • The most popular model ordered from the Stockyard remains the model TA.

  • New models added since moving to Jonesboro:

HBC - 1 Week
190ABEZ - 1 Week
25CRR & 25SR gravity to match widths - (24-Hour items)

  • The Stockyard now offers five optional paint colors (1 week); Blue, White, Beige, Black, & Gray

  • E-Commerce began the first of the year 2000, offering standard 24-Hour conveyors from the Jonesboro Stockyard that can be ordered "On-Line"

  • The Stockyard has improved its crating procedures, doing away with tri-wall containers. All power units are fully wood crated and all gravity is now palletized.

Hytrol Education & Training

Hytrol sponsored several schools and seminars recently.  During October, the sixth Pallet Handling Seminar was conducted.  Classes in the curriculum deal with the issues and answers involving the handling of pallets on conveyors and conveying accessories.

Two maintenance seminars were held recently, one each in October and December.  These classes were formed to educate those who perform maintenance on conveyors and conveying equipment.

Conveyor Sales School number 152 was attended by seventeen distributors.  This school is Hytrol’s oldest and teaches the basics on conveyors.  The school also gives the students a chance to see Hytrol’s international headquarters in Jonesboro and to meet many members of the Hytrol Family.

Hy-Tek’s advisory board a great success

In February 1999, we reported via Hytrol HyLites, a very unique customer oriented advisory board implemented by Hy-Tek Material Handling in Columbus, Ohio.  The Customer Advisory Board (CAB) was designed originally to help provide Hy-Tek with direction for growth that was directly related to client need.  Accordingly, the first session of November 1998 gathered extraordinary amounts of information on how Hy-Tek could serve clients better.  Each subsequent session then focused on specific aspects of the growth directions clients were requesting.

In order to thank the board members for their time and involvement, the goal at the outset of the project was to give clients something back from each meeting.  With this in mind, innovative meeting locales were selected that not only fit the theme of that meeting’s discussion, but also gave board members an opportunity for exposure and access to developments that impacted the local community, corporate and otherwise.  Additionally, a speaker was secured for each meeting that the group may not otherwise have had the opportunity to interact with on a personal basis, such as leading sports figures, business figures, and community leaders.

The Customer Advisory Board has impacted every aspect of Hy-Tek’s business per Sam Grooms, President, and Jim Ripkey, Vice President.  The board has provided input on nearly every procedure and marketing tool that Hy-Tek uses, from the corporate video, web site, and Hy-Tek University to policies on product markings and RFQ procedures.  Furthermore, same sales dollars from loyal clients have increased to enhance Hy-Tek’s bottom line, and many large-dollar deals can be traced back to activity on the board that led to client education about Hy-Tek’s capabilities, as well as client buy-in on Hy-Tek’s success.  Hy-Tek has also received many excellence awards as a result of this innovative client activity, including the 2001 Arthur Anderson Innovator of the Year Award.

Hats off to Sam Grooms, Jim Ripkey and the whole Hy-Tek staff.
