Determining
the curve "BR" needed for a certain size package
|
|
Package sizes on straight line
conveyors are usually flexible, as long as the box fits
between the rails or guards. When the package enters a
curve, however, the engineering rules become more rigid. A
two inch (2") clearance should be the MINIMUM
distance between the corners of the box and the side of
the conveyor rail. The following formula is a guide for
determining the size conveyor "BR" (Between Rail
Width) needed for a given box size. It should be
remembered that this is only a guide and if there are any
concerns the product should be tested first.
*Between Rails
**Inside Radius
|
SAMPLE PROBLEM:
The box size is: 26" wide x 33" long
The curve in question has a 48" inside radius
Using the formula above:

Note: For CHAIN ROLLER CURVES and
POWER BELT CURVES add chain guard thickness to above.
NOTE:
Use the INSIDE RADIUS in your Hytrol General Catalog for
each specific conveyor. Also, a more thorough guide
to package sizes for powered and gravity roller curves
can be found in the Hytrol Technical Manual. If you have
questions about the formula or need help determining if
a package will fit on a certain size curve, your Hytrol
distributor or Hytrol engineering should be contacted.
