Centering Device

This Hytrol conveyor accessory was designed to assist a robotic unit for removal of a wheel-shaped object from the roller conveyor.

The object enters the "zone" and accumulates to the end of the conveyor. The Hytrol EZLogic™ sensor activates several cams which move from both sides of the conveyor and centers, in this case a spool. When the object is centered, a robot or other removal device can then remove the spool or similar object from the conveyor.

This concept, with minor modifications, can be used for other applications.

First Engineer completes Hytrol Engineering Apprenticeship Program

Kevin Richardson, center, is congratulated by Hytrol President Gregg Goodner, left, and Phill Forkum, Administrator of the Hytrol Engineering Apprenticeship Program.

One of Hytrol's major goals now and in the future, is to provide complete and adequate training for its distributors and employees. In 1997, Hytrol developed an intern apprenticeship program for its distributors. The program has been very successful and has provided the opportunity for a number of distributors to receive in-depth training at Hytrol.

With the success of that program, Hytrol looked internally and recently developed an apprenticeship program for engineers new to the Hytrol philosophy and process. One purpose of this program is to accelerate the training time for new engineers.

The apprenticeship consists of a 24-week session which takes the engineer through various training aspects consistent with duties normally associated with Hytrol's engineering program. In addition to the practical work, the apprentice spends time understanding Hytrol's process, from manufacturing and production, to sales and marketing.

While in sales and marketing, an additional goal of the apprenticeship program is the provision to meet the various team members and acquire an understanding of how Hytrol goes to market, along with fundamental pricing of the equipment and application of the hardware.

The program is based on a structured program, with an established course of study. The course will help maintain a high standard and provide consistency in training of engineering personnel.

Gregg Goodner, left, President of Hytrol, presents a special plaque to Shawn Suggs. Shawn recently completed the Hytrol Distributor Intern Program. Shawn works for Nelson Equipment Company, a Hytrol distributor located in Shreveport, Louisiana. Hytrol appreciates the time and effort put forth by Shawn and we look forward to serving him in the future.

Scott Lee of Conveyor Solutions, Schaumburg, Illinois, recently provided assistance with Hytrol's Sortation School number 10. Scott was given the opportunity to be the "guest speaker" during the school. In appreciation of his service, Hytrol presented him with a special plaque.

Throughout Hytrol's history, we have looked for many ways to help customers keep conveyor operating costs to a minimum. Hytrol's Maintenance Semi-nars were started 1983 to provide those who maintain and service material handling equipment with preventive maintenance techniques and a broader knowledge of the inner workings of Hytrol's conveyor models and accessories.

Recently, Hytrol graduated its 38th maintenance seminar. 21 students were enrolled in the three-day school. We appreciate those who came and hope they enjoyed the school.

New Signs "Lead the Way" to HYTROL!

Recently, two new signs were erected in front of Hytrol International Headquarters in Jonesboro. The "BIG OVAL" will definitely let visitors know where Hytrol is located! The sign, approximately 15 feet wide, is provided with an interior lighting system.

Just down the road, in front of the main entrance to the new Hytrol Stockyard, another sign lets everyone know where it is located. As this photo was being made, workers were putting the finishing touches on the new sign.
